Leading Chinese Crane Standards to the World: Multiple International Standard Projects Led by Zoomlion Achieve Significant Progress

The recent series of meetings of the International Organization for Standardization Technical Committee for Cranes (ISO/TC96) were successfully held in Frankfurt, Germany. More than 100 delegates from 16 member countries, including China, Germany, France, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Finland, and Japan, attended the meetings. During the sessions, China took on six new international standard projects, achieving remarkable results. Meanwhile, multiple international standard projects led by Zoomlion made significant progress, with the revision and development work advancing steadily.

During the meetings, Fu Ling, Vice President and Chief Engineer of Zoomlion, presented the secretariat's work report to the General Assembly in her capacity as ISO/TC96 Committee Manager. Experts from Zoomlion, including Wang Yani from Zoomlion Construction Crane Branch, and Yu Lihu and Yuan Zhengwen from Zoomlion Building Crane Branch, attended the working group and subcommittee meetings as project leaders.

Several ongoing international standard projects led by Zoomlion achieved important milestones. Among them, ISO 4302 "Cranes — Wind load estimation" officially entered the Draft International Standard (DIS) voting stage. For the first time, this standard incorporates China's storm wind map data, filling the gap in the adaptability of international standards to China's regional conditions. ISO/TR 25201 "Cranes — Effect of wind on crane loads from adjacent building groups" and ISO 7296-1 "Cranes — Graphic symbols — Part 1: General" were refined through multiple rounds of working group discussions, resulting in mature draft standards, and were successfully registered at this meeting.

In terms of coordinated advancement and update of series standards, Zoomlion continues to make sustained efforts. The company will lead the revision of the series of standards on crane driver training, covering the general principles and mobile crane parts. Furthermore, after leading the publication of the general principles part of the safety use series, Zoomlion has been approved again to revise the standard for the safe use of tower cranes. To date, Zoomlion is leading seven ongoing international standards for cranes, continuously expanding its coverage and leadership.

As the first secretariat unit of an international standardization organization in China's construction machinery industry, Zoomlion has 11 registered experts in ISO/TC 96, deeply involved in core working groups such as mobile cranes, tower cranes, and remote data exchange. Up to now, the company has led or participated in the development and revision of more than 30 international standards, with many of its led standards officially published. Through its solid strength, Zoomlion is driving Chinese standards to the world and injecting strong momentum into the high-quality development of the global crane industry.
